SSD Speed

SSD = Solid State Drive

they come in a few different formats,
-SATA 2.5″ like this one, and they will fit into most laptops and normal desktop or All-In-Ones
-M.2. which is about the size of a Stick of Computer Memory, and fits into new Motherboards and slim laptops.

an SSD is somewhere around 10X faster than the old style mechanical hard Drives, it also has much lower latency or seak time.

So if the Hard drive is the slowest part of your computer, then replacing it with an SSD is the cheapest way to revitalise your old laptop or computer, and can be very cost effective.
