Office demistified

Office demistified

Office, which is the best way to buy.

Ok, so I hear it almost every day, I'm not going to pay every year for something I can own forever, and this seems like a sensible argument, BUT!

It all comes down to what parts of office you need, how many computers you have. Office comes in many flavours, I'll list them bellow

Purchase outright.

Office Home and Student – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and One Note - $169

Office Home and Business – as above but adds Outlook-$299

Yearly subscription

Office 365 Personal – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access and One Note – access to One drive cloud storage and Skype minutes for 1 Year - $89

Office 365 Home Premium - same as above but for 5 devices. - $119

So if you only need the basics, and for one computer then it makes more sense to buy the H & S version, but if you have 2 laptops a desktop, and an iPad and you need Publisher or outlook, then the yearly Home Premium is a much better option, as if you could buy the old Professional version which had all office components, it was worth $599, so 5 X $599 = $2995, which is 25 years' worth at $119 per year.

Of course there are free or cheaper office equivalents, but while these will create or edit office products, quite often the formatting will change, and they require learning as they don't operate the same as office.

Oh and I haven't started talking about office for business, so if it all gets too confusing, drop into 1/10 South St, or email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or give us a call on 0260565746 and we will try to demystify it for you.

Who’s keeping your computers at their peak..
